To Break or Not to Break

Now and again we get asked why we don't take a break in a two hour gig. It really is not because we don't want to come out and socialize with the lovely folks who have come to hear us play. We certainly appreciate everyone who is there and wish we had more time to say hello. But we do have reasons for not taking a break in what we consider a short gig.

The first is purely physical. For Bill and I, when we're all warmed up it can be hard to get going again after stopping for a while. It's especially true for me because of the damage done when I broke my wrist a couple years ago. Once everything is warmed up and moving like it should it's much easier to just keep playing.

The second reason is that we don't want to take too long of a break. It's quite frustrating for the audience who has come to hear music and then the band is gone for what feels like eons. But when there are people to talk to we can't spend quality time with everyone so instead of making anyone feel left out or short-changed if we just breeze by and say a quick hi, we don't do it at all.

In a three hour gig we will take a short break. We'd love to speak to everyone but if we do just fly by your table and say hello quickly, please don't be offended.

Finally...we're having fun up there and just don't want to quit!

But as always...there are exceptions to every rule and March 13th will be one of them as we'll be taking a break to let Irish dancers take the stage at Ramsey's at Champion Hills. (details below)

In coming months we'll be introducing the band but if there's anything you'd particularly like to know or subject matter you'd like to hear about, please leave a comment. The link can be found in the "contact" page.

And as always...our upcoming schedule.

St. Patrick's Day season starts at Ramsey's at Champion Hills on Friday, March 13th. Plans got slightly changed here...we will be playing from 5:30 – 7:30pm but with a break at some point when the Irish dancers are ready to perform. Ramsey's is located at 675 Championship Drive Victor, NY 14564. They definitely recommend calling for reservations (585) 398-7458 ext. 2 https://championhillsgolf.com/ramseys/

Saturday, March 14th is Rochester Parade Day and the new Barry's Old School Irish (yay...they're back!) will be open from 8:00am to midnight and having music almost all day. We'll start the music off playing from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Barry's is located at Eagle Vale country club, 4400 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd (Rte 250), Fairport, NY. https://www.barrysoldschoolirish.com/

On Saturday, May 16th we'll be returning to the Little Theatre Cafe, playing from 7:00-9:00pm. The Little Theatre Cafe is at 240 East Avenue, Rochester, NY. (The cafe entrance is around the corner from the main Theatre entrance on Winthrop Street) https://thelittle.org/cafe

The Macedon Summer Concert series returns to the Lock 30 Canal Park brought to you by the Macedon Historical Society. It will be starting on Thursday, June 18th. We'll be playing that first concert, 6:00 – 8:00pm in the Village of Macedon Elmer Clark Pavillion. More details as summer approaches.
